My name us Kristy. I am 22 years of age, my husband is 23.

I am qualified in health and fitness but also have call centre and administration experience working for the New Zealand Government. This is my current job.

My husband is an engineer, working currently as a CNC wire operator, he has experience in welding and lathe operation.

We are looking to shift to Norfolk to gave a quiet life with our newly born daughter, any further information would be greatly appreciated!

Gardening is the way to live on Norfolk Island

Those who live on Norfolk Island love their garden. There is the Valley Nursery on Rocky Point Rd (Norfolk Island), open on Sundays between 8:30am – 12:30pm, to help. There are stacks of herbs, vegie seedlings, flower seedlings, and LOADS of plants for sale. Visit them on facebook.

We are a family of three kids, James (6), Amy (11) & Daniel (13).  Our kids have been brought up in remote locations, that includes Kakadu, Arnhem Land, Bickerton Island (slightly bigger than Norfolk), Central Desert and now at the top of Cape York, and all have been schooled in remote schools.

I started life on a farm, drove trucks and other stuff and then became a mechanic, for the last 7 years have been in remote retail.

My wife also is doing retail management, the ‘management’ has been over last 6 years.

Joann Kooij-Roos

Hi.  My name is Joann and in 2009 I had my skills assessed with the NZQA.  I was assessed as social work, level 6.

Today I am studying for Post Bachelor qualifications as Play Therapist, and will be completed in July this year.   As a play therapist I work with children in 4 – 12 years age group who have social and/or emotional problems.

I am married and a mother of three boys.

Norfolk Island Central School swimming carnival

Norfolk Island Central School (NICS) provides education for students K to 12. There are 300 students and more than 20 teachers. It is one of the most loved events for locals who live on Norfolk Island.

The school has many of the sporting activities that you would normally expect of a central school – athletics carnival, cross country racing, and an annual swimming carnival.

Love 100 Acres

On the island’s south west coast is 100 Acres Reserve that is one of the best places to take a walk through a variety of amazing flora, with great views, and seabirds galore that take your breath away.

Those who live on Norfolk Island love 100 Acres as a place for recreation, picnics, and contemplation. Those who come for a Norfolk Island holiday also find this tranquil place well worth the visit.

We went walking there today (Australia Day) and took some photos to show you just some of what you might find at 100 Acres.

Wearable Art Awas Wieh (our way)

On Saturday night (18 Jan) the Community Arts Association of NI held the 9th annual Wearable Arts Festival at Rawson Hall.

Hundreds of people who live on Norfolk Island, and visitors, attended this event – one of the most popular in the NI events calendar.

There were 25 entries across five sections: recycled materials (the largest section with 11 entrants), art through the ages, reinventing the groom, natural fibres, and extravagance.
